If your Virginia court, Virginia DMV documentation or VASAP instructions require an Intelligent Speed Assistance device, you must use a service provider approved for the Virginia Intelligent Speed Assistance Program.

Receive Your Requirement

What Does the ISA Device Do?
VASAP describes an ISA device as a system that limits the speed at which a motor vehicle is capable of traveling based on the applicable speed limit where the vehicle is being operated.
Speed-Limit Information
ISA technology uses location and speed-limit information to identify the applicable roadway speed limit.
Active Speed Limiting
The system is designed to limit the vehicle from exceeding the applicable speed threshold.
Automatic Operation
LifeSafer describes its system as operating automatically during normal vehicle use without requiring the driver to manually activate it.
Does Not Apply the Brakes
LifeSafer states that its system does not automatically apply the vehicle's brakes or shut off the engine.
Compliance Data
ISA devices record information used in program monitoring and compliance.
Periodic Service
Virginia VASAP currently requires an authorized service-provider inspection at least once every 60 days.
Important Requirements After Enrollment
Selecting an ISA provider is only one part of ISAP. Participants must continue following VASAP's program rules until VASAP determines that all requirements have been successfully completed.
Applicable Vehicles
VASAP requires an ISA device on vehicles the participant owns, has registered, or operates during the program.
Day Service Interval
The ISA device must currently be inspected by an authorized provider at least once every 60 days.
Tampering
Tampering with, bypassing or circumventing the ISA device can result in serious program consequences.
Determines Completion
VASAP notifies the participant after all court or DMV program requirements have been successfully completed.
